The Darkest Days of the Empire

The second album from DVATM mixes a heady blend of abstract noise pop, dub, free jazz, freakout guitars, girl group harmonies, gospel sensibility and post punk spikiness. Produced by D.H.R. Gibbs and Ian Davenport, Darkest Days was recorded over a seven year period in studios in Oxfordshire, Brighton, Brooklyn NY and Brixton. Alongside the core Meditations it features guest performances from a huge array of musicians including Eddy Stevens, Dave De Rose, Andre Canniere, Roan McCormick, Jodie Scantlebury and many more. The cover art is a detail from a piece entitled ‘Attraction and Reflection’ by Brighton-based artist Grace Wilmshurst.
